For the Thomas cook Marque of Excellence Awards, held at the prestigious Brewery in London, id8 produced a series of animations for the awards night as well as an opening video (shot on Digi Beta and featuring a number of interviews) to launch the awards. The set featured an incredible 30 foot wide screen at its centre, id8's main award animations had to be produced natively for this extreme widescreen, which was then processed on the night via a multiscreen projection system. They were assembled in After Effects using super high resolution NASA images.
The show was produced for Thomas Cook by Hawk Audiovisual, with whom id8 have a very close relationship, id8 were there on the night using Hawk's multiscreen system to cue the awards animations and live camera feeds live as the nominees and winners were announced. In all over 30 separate animation sections were produced to be called live on the night.
id8 also produced an 'archive' animation made from hundreds of old Thomas Cook posters and brochures and even old cine film from the 30's. id8 animated this into a gentle journey through Thomas Cooks history and was projected onto a giant gauze during pre dinner drinks.
